Sixers Most Questionable Decision?

Trust the process, we all said.

Well, we tried.

Every Sixers fan remembers when our team was the laughing stock of the league, but the optimistic mantra of “Trust the Process” kept us going, hopeful for a dominant dynasty in the future.

Most regular fans would not be able to name these players from the early days of the process.

It almost worked.

Last season, the Sixers lineup of Simmons, Redick, Harris, Butler, and Embiid almost pulled off winning the championship, or at least the Eastern Conference. I think they would have pulled it off if Leonard did not hit the heartbreaking buzzer beater that rolled endlessly around the rim.

But then we had a rough offseason and the questionable decision-making of our GM and coach left us with a roster that showed no signs of championship potential once in the bubble (or earlier in the season).

What was the most questionable decision?

One could say the contracts for Harris or Horford, letting Redick go, keeping Brown as coach, or the strange decisions of which role players were signed, but I think one decision stands out.

Letting Jimmy Butler leave.

Jimmy apparently wanted out so who knows if they could have kept him, but the Sixers clearly need him. I like Brett Brown, but maybe they could have kept Jimmy if they let Brown go? Bulter is an elite, clutch performer who was the Sixers best player last playoffs. He now leads a Heat team full of youngsters arguably much better than the current Sixers. Look out, as Jimmy will give the Bucks a huge challenge to make it to the Eastern Conference Finals and possibly the NBA Finals.
